“Downhill all the way” on The Record.com

Mount Washington featured in article on The Record.com.

Keven Drews of The Record contacted me a few weeks ago and asked me if I would speak to him about mountain biking on Vancouver Island. We chatted about Mount Washington’s focus on opening up beginner trails and what they had to offer already. He was very interested in the Mount Washington angle of course, but also asked a lot about VIMB.com and mountain biking in general on Vancouver Island.

Have a read for yourself, also quoted is The Riding Fool’s Jeremy Grasby, and mentioned is the Comox Valley Mountain Biking site. Good exposure for our riding scene here on Van Isle! Check out the full article here

VIMB.com Site Updates

July 1st, 2010

Update Image

Hello World,

Just wanted to take a moment to point out a couple of updates to the VIMB.com website that I have been working on lately. I have been trying to find some time to add much needed content to a few key areas, “Maps and Where to Ride” as well as creating a “Mountain Bike Tech” page. If you hit up the “More…(that is updated too) link in the site header, you will see then new pages I have added, the ones that have been updated, and the ones that were there before, and remain much the same.

Maps and Where to Ride is a mixture of donated maps, links to riding resources as well as local and not so local trail resource information. I have included a good mix of sites and info, but as always this is a work in progress. If you have any links, maps, sites or good trail resources, please send me an e-mail or post up in the Forum. I will be happy to get them included. I am especially interested in Vancouver Island stuff, but that probably goes without saying.

Mountain Bike Tech page is an idea I have been tossing around for a while. I have seen a few site out there with similar information, but not always exactly what I was looking for personally. I have tried to start by setting up access to the sites and to the manufacturers that I know my friends and peers ride, but there is sooooo much out there, that I have barely scratched the surface. PLEASE send me what you have in the way of tech resource links, warranty site info, tech video or “how to’s”, anything that I have missed.

More to come…as soon as I find the time. Like that phpBB upgrade I have been promising, and that gallery too!

Knolly on Pinkbike…”Deliverance, One week in the Oregon backwoods”

February 26th, 2010

Knolly on PinkbikeSo, every once in a while you come across something posted on another site here or there that grabs your attention. This 4 part (so far) article has it all. Rides, Bros, Camping, Shock Bikes and some excellent photography. Do yourself a favor, go check out Margus Riga’s story on the Knolly team riders Curtis Robinson  and Alan Crisp, their team manager Chris Glew, the guy running the Video Camera Ambrose Weingart, and of course the photographer Margus Riga.

Big props for the excellent work on this story, and for the video I am certain I will be linking to this article in the near future. Cant say enough about the quality of these shots too, really shows everyone what late winter riding on the West Coast of North America is all about (aka Rain and Mud). Photo Credit: Margus Riga

Enjoy.
